This patient had the unfortunate accident of having a curtain fall and hit her on her front tooth (#8) where it created a fracture down the root and moved it out of place. This tooth was unfortunately not savable. The patient also wanted to change the esthetics of her front teeth. She had 25 year old composite veneer that were leaky and discolored.
Dr. Swamidass used 3-dimensional and digital dental technology to create a implant guide that would allow precise and planned placement of her new dental implant at the same time he removed the tooth. He also placed bone graft and a gum graft to maintain the natural appearance of her implant. He also gave the patient a fixed implant temporary on the same day to go home with.
After intial healing, the patient returned where Dr. Swamidass worked her front teeth to remove the old veneers and decay. Due to extensive nature of her old veneers and decay the patient could not get veneers again but required crowns in order to have restorations that would last her.
Due to the patient’ bony architecture the implant had to placed in situation where a traditional screw-retained restoration would not be possible. However, with new technology a angled screw channel was fabricated to allow Dr. Swamidass to place a preferred screw-retained implant crown. Dr. Swamidass’ research was on these type of crowns which tested the longevity of them.
The patient received a brand new smile that restored her confidence and appreciation.
